Mastery takes education. We want each and every person who comes through our doors (be it as a student, or a member of our community), to reach their photography dreams – whatever they are. So we put education first. We are here to help teach you – in a way that makes sense.
Photography connects people. We should know! In the 8 years we’ve been teaching people in our hands-on and interactive courses, we’ve grown a community of like-minded individuals who are always there to support one another. It’s not a lonely journey when you’re in the company of friends.
We hire our incredible photography instructors based not only on their photography skill but also on their ability to translate their photography knowledge into clear, simple and logical steps so that they can effectively teach our content.
Our instructors undergo a rigorous training and assessment process so that you know wherever you are taking our course, you are getting access to the same, exceptional, product.
David is the owner of Learn Photography Canada. He has been behind a camera for over 20 years, photographing weddings, family and commercially for companies like Shell, On-Site Equipment and Cold-front. , Father of two beautiful girls, David loves the power of photographs to tell someone’s story for generations to come.
David joined Learn Photography Canada in 2019. It was easy for him to buy into the company’s vision of becoming Canada’s premier photography course company – helping to inspire a passion for photography in all individuals from all walks of life. As a leadership coach as well, David believes in the power of learning – in keeping our minds supple, exploring our creativity, and discovering something new within ourselves. Seeing the impact that these workshops had on people, it was easy for him to make the decision to buy the company from founders Jana and James in February 2023.
He believes that Learn Photography Canada should be a safe place for beginners to explore without pressure, a place where students always feel supported and where students can ask any and all questions they may have. He believes in providing exceptional customer service and wants every student to join the LPC family.

Darrell O’Donnell is our amazing LPC instructor in the Edmonton area. He’s been an avid photographer for the last 10 plus years. 5 years ago, he switched to a DSLR and tried the University of Google and YouTube to figure out how to take great photos.
It wasn’t until he found the PIF course at Learn Photography Company where his passion and technical skills began to grow. As a recent graduate of the Master Photography program, he began using his talents to help others and was a natural fit with the Learn Photography Canada team.
He loves anything outdoors, wildlife, landscapes, flowers, astro and macro photography. He’s not afraid to explore new technology and methods to help students achieve their photography goals.
Donna loves all things outdoors and sharing her adventures through her lens. Born and raised in the Okanagan, she has over 20 years’ specializing in capturing life’s very special moments. As a self-prescribed adventure seeker, she spends her summers firefighting, after several years in the corporate world managing and mentoring teams and leaders.
Donna has a deep passion for photography and teaching. She is especially grateful to be able to share her experience and knowledge in both leadership development and the art of photography. Donna loves to teach: Everything!

Born in Shanghai and raised in Vancouver, Jackson Zhao is a commercial and fashion photographer who produces stunning, luxurious photographs for fashion, beauty, and commercial work. A gifted eye married with a deep technical understanding lends Jackson’s work a style all of its own – clean, rich, and fresh. Concerned with more than the production of mere photographs, he has transformed a lifetime of visual arts into a successful career as a high-end photographer. With a background in film production working on major Hollywood films such as Twilight New Moon, Fantastic Four, and King of Fighters, Jackson’s natural ability to not only execute smooth productions but also translate modern trends into recognized pieces. Shooting for such magazines as Vogue, Zink, and Cielo, and working with Celebrities such as Yao Ming, Jay Chow, Matt Damon, and more. Jackson’s work has been featured on Trend Hunter, Ben Trovato, and various internationally recognized fashion blogs. Lorraine started as a wedding photographer but nature and wildlife was more what she loved to photograph. She likes interacting with nature where she loves to listen to all the sounds around her and seeing how wildlife behaves. She loves capturing the beauty that nature and wildlife has to offer through her viewfinder. She also wants to tell a story through her pictures as a way to communicate without using words so that it captures the viewers eyes. She has been doing photography for a very long time but came a time in her life that she had completely stopped. She has picked up her camera again and is very happy for what lies ahead.

Enrico is an Art Director with a strong background in Fine Art and over 10 years of experience in photography. He brings ideas to life by combining his artistic vision with a deep understanding of camera functions like exposure, lenses, and lighting to create stunning visuals.
With years of experience in production and directing, Enrico enjoys sharing his knowledge and skills. As a teacher, he helps students explore the creative, technical, and practical sides of photography and videography, guiding them to turn their ideas into reality.

Abbas started photography around 10 years ago and has experimented with many genres, specializing in studio lighting and product photography. He is adventuresome and loves to try different kinds of photography because there is always more to learn.

Norman Nicol is a photographer based in Hamilton, Ontario. With a graphics and art background Norman has over 30 years of experience taking great photos. Norman has worked in family, baby, group and landscape photography. He consistently uses composition, colour and mood to tell a visual story of family. He takes pride in broadening the horizons of adults and children taking an interest in photography. He is a patient teacher and is willing to spend extra time with those who want it.
